Why You Should Watch The Smartest Sci-Fi Show on Amazon Prime Video

Orphan Black is the must-see television.

BBC America

Looking for something that can hold your attention for at least five seasons in a row? Black orphan is a winner without a doubt.

The Canadian Jewel is the kind of sci-fi series that marries big ideas with charming, charming characters and a tight, fast-paced plot. It also stars Tatiana Maslany. His sympathy levels are out of the ordinary. (Hopefully they will stay that way now that she’s been recruited for a Marvel TV show.)

You can watch Orphan Black in its entirety on Amazon Prime Video. Not counting the follow-up audiobook series, Maslany plays a total of 14 characters, including a talking scorpion. It’s a hallucination, to make this show sound a little less bizarre.

A Quick Look: Orphan Black follows Sarah Manning, a con artist who sees a woman jump to her death in front of a train. The twist: this woman doesn’t just look like Sarah, she could be her double. Only instead of a Clash T-shirt and jeans, she wears a corporate pencil dress. Maslany plays both of these roles – a clue to what’s going on.

What follows is a multi-layered mystery involving evil biotech institutions, religious extremists, and a suburban soccer mother. A stuck and terrifying suburban soccer mom.

OK, Orphan Black is weird. But it’s also a television worthy of a throat.

Meet Hélène.

BBC America

Maybe you met him at some point while you were stuck in the endless scroll. Maybe you thought, “This looks like a military operation … or a sample of paint.” But, luckily, Orphan Black is one of the best sci-fi series around.

Not only does he explore the nature versus culture debate, but he explores the nature versus culture debate with an easily accessible comedy-thriller tone. Her tension-laden writing, polished visuals, and memorable supporting cast arrived in a fully formed package when the show premiered on BBC America in 2013.

Four more great seasons followed. While the best moments come to the fore in seasons 1 and 2, all five seasons continue to enrich its world of scientists, police detectives and secret military operatives. It takes surprising left turns until the satisfying end.

Then there’s the killer soundtrack, perfectly timing I Got You Babe about an assassin smiling at Sarah, plotting her murder. Throughout the series, an effortlessly cool parade of The Clash, New Order and local Canadian bands vibrate out of their garages as part of Toronto.

Yet – aside from the production, the performances, the cool science – Orphan Black’s biggest success is its characters.

They lead busy and distinct lives, and you can’t help but worry about them like crazy. Take Helena, a sugar obsessed Ukrainian assassin who literally lives in a cage. Don’t let his demented attempts to stab Sarah disguise his heart of gold, which earned him the title of cutest assassin in the years before Villanelle arrived in Killing Eve.

A dark and clever thriller that explores great concepts and makes jokes while doing it, Orphan Black is a must-see sci-fi gem. This saw Maslany gain well-deserved recognition as she performed relentlessly over the five seasons, her co-stars gushing from her work ethic and sunny demeanor. After being snubbed multiple times for an Emmy, Maslany finally wrapped her fingers around a Best Leading Actress award in 2016.

In 2022, his career is expected to reach even higher heights. Marvel Studios has marked her services for a new superhero TV show, in which she will play the Hulk’s cousin, She-Hulk.

This presents yet another reason to watch Orphan Black. Watch it to understand why one of the biggest studios on the planet chose Maslany in the first place.
