Welcome to a first look at new movies and shows coming to Netflix in the US in May 2022. Below, we’ll keep you up to date with everything coming throughout the month, whether it’s shows, movies, specials or games.

If you’re just looking for Netflix Originals, here we have an extensive overview of Netflix Original movies and shows. Likewise, you’ll want to keep an eye out for drops for May 2022, which currently include the likes of Dawson’s Creek and the excellent start series.

For those unfamiliar with how our upcoming releases work, we tend to release our releases much earlier than other outlets to reflect currently known titles coming in the upcoming month.   • Hello, my name is Doris (2015) – Michael Showalter directs this romantic comedy about a self-help seminar inspiring a woman to romantically pursue a much younger colleague.

  • Rambo (2008) – Directing and starring Stallone, this great reboot sees him play the classic role of Rambo.
  • Rambo: Last Blood (2019) – Sylvester Stallone returns in this sequel which sees his character leave for one last mission.
  • Summer Country (2020) – Jessica Swale directs this WWII romance film about an English woman opening her heart to an evacuee. Starring Gemma Arterton and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

  • The Gentlemen (2019) – Guy Ritchie directs this British action comedy about a man looking to sell his cannabis empire. With Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell and Jeremy Strong. The film is also reportedly getting a series adaptation on Netflix.
  • War of the Worlds (2005) – Tom Cruise stars in what we think is still the best War of the Worlds adaptation. Sees a violent alien race invading Earth.

  • Hold Your Breath: Ice Diving (2022) NOT – Follow freediver Johanna Nordblad in this documentary as she attempts to break the world record for distance covered under the ice in a single breath.

  • El Marginal (Season 5) NOT – The fifth and final season of the Argentine crime drama series.
  • Summer (Season 3) NOT – The final season of the Italian teen drama series.
  • The circle (season 4) NOT – New Episodes Weekly – a new season of the social experiment reality TV series.

  • Blood Sisters (limited series) NOT – A new series from African production company EbonyLife about two friends forced to flee.
  • Clark (limited series) NOT – Starring Bill Skarsgård as Clark Olofsson, this limited series is about a notorious Swedish bank robber.
  • El Marginal (Season 5) NOT – Police drama in Spanish that has been running since 2016.

The Pentaverate Netflix

  • The Pentaverate (Limited Series) NOT – Mike Myers returns to character comedy with this new series about a Canadian journalist who becomes embroiled in a conspiracy. Also stars Jennifer Saunders and Jeremy Irons.
  • Wild Babies (Season 1) NOT – A new docu-series on nature.

  • On the way for the ride (2022) NOT – Originally slated for an April release, this romantic teen flick is based on a book and sees two teenagers live carefree for the last time before heading off to college.
  • Aykut Eniste 2 (2021) – Turkish comedy about a young man struggling with an unexpected guest on the eve of his wedding.
  • Marmaduke (2022) NOT – A new animated film based on the famous comic. Features the voices of Pete Davidson and JK Simmons.

  • The Sound of Music (Season 1) NOT – New South Korean drama about a girl who grew up too fast and a magician who wants to remain a child. Written by Min-jung KIM and directed by Kim Sung-youn.
  • The Teardown (2022) NOT – Omar Sy (Lupin) stars in this new action-comedy about two police officers with polar opposites who find themselves paired up on a big new case.
  • Welcome to Eden (Season 1) NOT – Science fiction in Spanish about 5 young people invited to an exclusive evening.

What’s Coming to Netflix May 11

  • 42 Days of Darkness / 42 days in darkness (Season 1) NOT – One of the first major Netflix productions to come out of Chile. A fictional crime thriller about a missing woman and her sisters trying to find her.
  • Operation Ground Meat (2022) NOT – Colin Firth and Matthew Macfadyen star in this WWII drama about two intelligence officers who helped turn the tide of the war.

  • Secondary year (2022) NOT – Rebel Wilson stars in this new comedy about a woman in her late thirties who wakes up from a 20-year coma and returns to high school.

  • Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 (Season 2) NOT – Second season of the anime series.

What’s Coming to Netflix May 25

  • Someone Feed Phil (Season 5) NOT – New episodes of the Netflix travel documentary series with Philip Rosenthal.

What’s Coming to Netflix May 26

  • My Little Pony: Make Your Mark (2022) NOT – A unique animated special set in the My Little Pony universe. An additional series is slated to hit Netflix in September.

What’s Coming to Netflix May 27

  • Stranger Things (Season 4 – Volume 1) NOT – The first half of the penultimate season of Netflix’s flagship show, Stranger Things. Picks up six months after the events of Season 3 and sees the band split up but the upside-down horror still rears its ugly head.

Looking ahead to June, Netflix US subscribers can look forward to the final season of Peaky Blinders arrives June 10. The Umbrella Academy and Adam Sandler’s new film Hustle also high on the list of what’s known to be coming.
