The British presenter revealed himself publicly as gay in February 2020.

And on Tuesday, Phillip Schofield, 59, of This Morning, was stunned by Dan Levy, 38, and praised Schitt’s Creek for being “one of the most sensitive places for LGBTQ + people” as they chatted of representation.

The Canadian actor was praised by Phil for his character David Rose’s relationship with his on-screen husband Patrick in the hit comedy series, noting that this is by no means stereotypical.

Dan said: ‘Thank you so much for saying that, it’s very sweet. I had the opportunity to write about my own experience in a way that I had never seen on television.

“As a gay person, we often find ourselves reduced or characterized or our corners rounded off so that we can be more digestible for a mass audience.

“When someone gives you an opportunity like this and you have the freedom to tell those stories, it was important to make sure that in the specific moments of that experience, it was portrayed as authentically and so carefully. and thoughtful that she maybe could.

Speaking about the time he previously lived in London, Dan explained: “I had a very intense heartache in my twenties and thought what better place to come than London, because I had seen Notting Hill I had a great time here.

“Every Wednesday I couldn’t wait to grab a pizza and get a new Heat magazine and take it home. I didn’t know anyone in the magazine, but by the end of my time here I was heavily invested in a lot of British celebrities. ‘

Phil and Holly then revealed that S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens videoed Dan and passed it on to Dan.

Rachel said, ‘Hi Dan. I am a big fan of you. It’s so nice to send you a message to say hello. I send you full of love and the greatest mwah. ‘

Dan gushed, “This is the loop time I came here for. That’s it. I can leave happy. Thank you for this surprise. This is my very first time on UK television. I’ve watched so many, including you two.
