Round one of the 2022 Norco Canadian Enduro Series presented by Leatt was run in true Kamloops style – hot, dry and dusty. With a sold out field of over 300 riders including pros such as Jill Kintner, Elliot Jamieson, Jackson Frew, and many more, it was going to be a big weekend with lots of competition. Apart from the pros, unsurprisingly the U21 field has eclipsed all other fields in size, it’s fair to say the future is bright!
Day 1 took riders to the top of the ski hill for what would be the second longest race of the weekend. There was little time to work things out as the stage also had potentially one of the most technical sections of the whole weekend, just off the top. Jill Kintner and Jackson Frew started their weekend with a stage win, a result they both hope to continue. Step 2, Upper Nates; and there was a change at the top for the Pro Men with Dylan Da Silva taking the top honors while Jill Kintner began to build her overall lead. The newly formed Corsa Cycles Enduro team held a solid lead in the U21 women’s category with Elly Hoskin, Ainsley Haggart and Sophia Ervington holding the top 3 spots! With both stages completed, Saturday’s races have come to an end. However, it wouldn’t have been a Harper Enduro without a grass slalom on Saturday night, with a few riders risking it all in the grass turns that night. Who doesn’t love grass turns!
The start of Day 2 was difficult for some. It started with a slight roll up the hill until stage 3, which meant there was very little warm-up. Stage 3 was probably the stage of the weekend! Starting on the lower part of Nates Upper and crossing the road to Nates Lower, this was a tough and fast stage. Stage 4, the Lung Destroyer, and Stage 5, the Flow Track, followed before the crowd pleaser which was Stage 6 and a timed race around the grassy corners. Jill Kintner and Jackson Frew would retain their spot at the top to take overall Pro class wins. But after a huge day, U21 runner Leif Rodgers went on to set the fastest time of the day.
A big thank you to all the runners, volunteers, spectators and everyone else for coming out this weekend! We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2022 season. Shop Around #2 at Crowsnest Pass.
Not a bad place for a run!
Let’s put this show on the road.
Lean into it!
Corsa Cycle rider Cody MacArthur lost not one but two of his Garmins! There should be a price for that.
