TORONTO – Canadian Harry Styles fans have seen their “Watermelon Sugar” high crushed after the British singer quietly canceled concerts scheduled in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal later this year.
The pop star released an updated schedule for her North American tour on Wednesday and no mention of her four Canadian shows was missing from the 40 dates.
Styles, formerly of boy band One Direction, was originally scheduled to bring Love on Tour stops to Vancouver on August 16 before heading to Toronto on September 28 and 29 and Montreal on October 20.
Ticketmaster now lists these tour dates as canceled, with one of the Toronto shows being replaced with a stop in Nashville.
Fans took to Twitter to express their frustration at the surprise cancellation, with some claiming they had kept the tickets for around two years despite a previous postponement.
The speed of a return to live indoor events has been anything but certain in many parts of the country, with each province offering different guidelines – and sometimes little guidance – on how plans will play out in the fall.
With the Canada-U.S. Border still closed, some international artists have skipped tour dates in Canada altogether, while others have postponed until 2022.
âAs always, the well-being of my fans, my band and my team is my top priority,â Styles wrote in a tweet.
His Columbia label added in a statement that “in accordance with global COVID-19 guidelines, international tour dates are not possible at this time.”
They said refunds would be available to ticket holders and that Styles “plans to travel and perform again once it is deemed safe to do so.”
