“The Metal Tour of the Year” was originally announced and planned for 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. Fans have been patiently waiting for the tour to return and in the summer of 2021 their wish has been granted. “The Metal Tour of the Year” was one of the first national amphitheater tours to hit the road in 2021 and saw co-headliners MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD hit 29 cities across North America with special guests TRIVIUM and RACE HATEwho stepped in to replace IN FIRE who were unable to participate in the tour due to travel restrictions. The tour was a huge success, living up to its name and playing in front of 172,000 metal fans in the process.

Speaking about the success of the first leg of the tour and his excitement to hit the road again in 2022, MEGADETHleader and leader of Dave Mustaine noted: “‘The Metal Tour of the Year’ is exactly what it sounds like – an evening of some of the best heavy metal bands in the world – live and loud. Anyone who came to a concert last year knows what I mean, except this one will be even better. Don’t miss.”

Randy Blytheinimitable leader of LAMB OF GODadded, “It was great to hit the road on an amazing tour last summer with MEGADETH, TRIVIUM and RACE HATE so we thought we’d do it again! We look forward to visiting new cities with MEGADETH, TRIVIUM and IN FIREthat we are happy to have more for stage 2!”

TRIVIUMit’s Matthew Heavy added: “‘The Metal Tour of the Year’ was one of the strongest and most incredible metal tours of all time – its namesake is only accurate. How do you track this? By doing it again – even bigger, even better, and playing it wherever it didn’t in the first leg. ‘The Metal Tour of the Year’ – let’s do this.”

IN FIRE singer Anders Friden said: “We are delighted to finally be able to join our dear friends in MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD and TRIVIUM on this year “Metal Tour of the Year”! We look forward to being back on the road in America and seeing you all. Do not miss this visit; it’s a juggernaut.”
