The estate of the deceased Mac Miller released a new music video for “Colors and Shapes”, one of the many collaborations between Miller and Thunder cat from his acclaimed mixtape from 2014, Faces, which is set to officially release on vinyl and streaming services next month.
The new “Colors and Shapes” visuals, produced by Sam mason and produced by the production company hornet, follows a computer-animated version of Miller’s dog, Ralph, on a on the other side of the mirror-type travels through his dreams as he interacts with the metaphorical characters depicted in the song’s lyrics.
As Mason said in a press release, by Fork, “The track seemed very visual to me, as if it had its own world. This atmospheric nocturnal place sometimes dangerous, sometimes comforting, then I saw a photo of [Mac Miller’s dog] Ralph and a story emerged. To build it, I asked Malcolm’s family to send me pieces of his childhood, scenes from the city he grew up in, objects, toys from his room, little pieces of his life that I ‘ve extrapolated and used to inspire the story. “
Addition of Mason. “In the abstract, this is a video about childhood – growing up as an artist and the ups and downs of that experience. It is in a way a look at the emotional and difficult and perilous but noble path of an artist.

Faces, originally released for free on Mother’s Day 2014, is considered by many fans to be one of his best works largely because of his psychedelic-jazz leanings and darker lyrical themes dealing with drug addiction, of death and psychosis.
