Goose contributed a cover of Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman” to Secretly Canadian’s 25th anniversary charity singles series. All net proceeds from the track will go to New Hope For Families, an organization that helps homeless families in the label’s hometown of Bloomington, Indiana.

The quintet jam version of the traditional song popularized by Nina Simone was released today on Bandcamp to celebrate Giving Tuesday. Goose’s “Sinnerman” hits all other digital services this Friday, December 3. Secretly Canadian’s SC25 series includes 25 new singles, 12 classic album re-releases and additional releases to be announced. Jim James, Bartees Strange, and Madison McFerrin are among the other contributors to the series.

“Nina Simone’s take on ‘Sinnerman’ has been an inspiration for many years,” Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda said in a press release. “We had wanted to play there for a while and it seemed like a perfect opportunity. We are honored to be part of this compilation and to get involved in the great cause behind it. Mitarotonda takes care of the lead voice of the reimagined, groove-focused “Sinnerman”.
