Boba Fett’s book Maybe the upcoming live-action Star Wars TV series, but we still don’t know much about it.
From the teaser to the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, it looks like this Disney + series will cover Boba taking over Jabba’s criminal empire, but everything else is just guesswork at this point.
However, a new leak suggests that a familiar face from the animated canon could appear in the new spin-off. Here’s what you need to know.
Boba Fett’s book will feature an appearance by Cad Bane, according to a leak from LRM online. That’s right: the gunslinger alien bounty hunter featured in both The clone wars and more recently The bad lot is about to take action. An appearance in Boba Fett’s book has been long to come for Cad Bane.
Created for a unique arc of The clone wars, Cad Bane became an instant fan favorite and was brought back for more adventures, culminating with him looking for Omega in The bad lot.
If Star Wars is a space western, Cad Bane is its ultimate gunslinger (sorry, Cobb Vanth). He has the frigid and cruel demeanor, the wide-brimmed hat and, of course, the sniper skills. Given that Boba Fett’s book exists in the same universe as The Mandalorian, Cad Bane will fit perfectly.
But what will it be used for in the upcoming series? It certainly looks like Boba’s bounty hunting days are over as he seeks to take on more administrative roles in the Crime Lord’s Empire. Could Cad Bane join the ranks of Boba’s contract criminals? He’s never been too demanding of his clients – he even stole a Holocron for Darth Sidious.
Then there is the question of how Cad Bane will be presented. Other characters in the live-action animation were either played by their voice actors, as with Bo-Katan Kryze, or imbued with additional star power, as in Ahsoka’s case. Given that Cad Bane’s southern drawlong is so iconic, it seems impossible that his likeness could be staged without Corey Burton’s voice.
The question then remains: who will bring this laconic gunslinger to life? Will her Duros face be a practical effect, or will her body remain computer animated? If this leak is to be believed, Cad’s introduction could further blur the lines between the Star Wars animated and animated series.
Boba Fett’s book premieres in December 2021.
