Annabeth Gish, who played FBI Special Agent Monica Reyes for the past four seasons of X files, is set to reprise her role in potential new seasons of the hit sci-fi drama.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com for their new Netflix series Midnight Mass, Gish said she would be happy to have more opportunities to bring Agent Reyes to life. She even mentioned that her Midnight Mass co-star Kristin Lehman, who also appeared in X files, is expected to join Agent Reyes for more adventures if the Chris Carter-created franchise makes a comeback.
” I will always be [return], even if the seasons [10 and 11], reboots, Monica Reyes was a bit [absent]”Gish said.” Maybe there could be Agent Reyes and another female Agent, right? Why not? “
Lehman, meanwhile, said that taking it back X-Files The role could be quite complicated, as the “consciousness of her character was uploaded to artificial intelligence” during her stint of an episode in the Fox series.
In Season 5, Episode 11 of X files, Lehman appeared as computer genius Esther Nairn, aka Invisigoth, who uploaded her consciousness into an AI that attempted to kill her. At the end of the episode, Esther’s downloaded consciousness became the AI of an old mobile home in a trailer park in North Platte, Nebraska.
Although it appears Fox has no plans to make another season of X files For now, Carter told Den of Geek last October that he “always thought there would be even more X-Files. Although he admitted that it was unlikely to continue the series with original stars David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully), he hopes to continue the franchise with an animated spin-off currently in development at Fox.
“Since Gillian decided to pursue her career, we certainly couldn’t remake Mulder and Scully,” Carter said. “But that doesn’t mean there is no other way to do it X files. And so right now, I think the future is not written.
Although it is not clear whether Gish and Lehman will ever return to X files franchise in the future, fans of the actresses can see them both in the supernatural horror series Midnight Mass, which will be released on September 24 on Netflix.
Created by Mike Flanagan, Midnight Mass tells the story of a small, isolated island community whose existing divisions are amplified by the return of a disgraced young man (Zach Gilford) and the arrival of a charismatic priest (Hamish Linklater). When Father Paul’s appearance on Crockett Island coincides with unexplained and seemingly miraculous events, a renewed religious fervor grips the community. Gish plays Dr. Sarah Gunning in the series, while Lehman stars as Annie Flynn.
