A virtual concert featuring Canadian pop star Alessia Cara in Niagara Falls continues to win top honors.
After launching her single “Sweet Dream” from a Niagara City Cruises ship on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in July 2021, the Juno and Grammy-winning singer released an hour-long special the next month.
“Alessia Cara Live from Niagara Falls” aired across Canada, as well as on MTV in the United States, and was streamed worldwide on the singer’s YouTube channel.
The production featured Cara in a number of locations, including Oakes Garden Theater and Niagara Skywheel.
The video recently won top honors in the music and entertainment category at the Drum Awards for Marketing, in London, England. The international award recognizes companies and individuals from across the marketing and communications industry.
“This award-winning project brought together Ontario’s film, tourism and performing arts sectors under the umbrella of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism to create a win-win synergy that has proven to be a major success in enhancing the destination with new and existing projects. demographic while reaching millions of enthusiastic travelers,” said Joel Noden, president of Niagara Falls Tourism, in a statement.
To date, the video has generated over 240 million impressions and 820,000 views.
“Putting Niagara Falls as a backdrop to release new music is a reminder that Niagara Falls is the entertainment capital of Canada,” said Janice Thomson, President and CEO of Niagara Falls Tourism.
Earlier this year, the campaign won gold in the branded documentary category at the New York TV & Film Festivals Awards.
